Marijuana News Online - The New Policy And State Action

Every day new information and advances on the regulation and illegality of cannabis are released online. Recent examples include the European Monitoring Program on Drugs (EMTS), the European Drug Information system (EDI) and the International Drug Code (IDSC). Additionally, numerous industry publications, medical journals and websites provide up-to-date and comprehensive cannabis news. The Canadian Centre for Marijuana Legalization also provides regular updated information on the cannabis laws in Canada.

Recently, the Marijuana Control Services Board exposed inconsistencies across Canada in relation to the distribution and sale of recreational marijuana. The MSSB proposed that all licensed retailers be required to sell products that come from licensed growers. This would essentially force consumers to patronize stores that are directly associated with licensed marijuana producers and sellers. Such inconsistency could potentially lead to legal challenges from the Canadian government, local municipalities and Canadian drug regulators.

Marijuana growers and retailers throughout the United States are facing serious threats. In some states, sheriffs have been asked to crack down on marijuana sellers and users. In some states, such measures have been enacted into legislation. In Canada, marijuana distributors face a myriad of legal challenges. Canadian authorities have introduced new legislation that would regulate marijuana use, but the process has stalled since July, when the new government was elected.

Despite inconsistent legislation, Canadians can enjoy peace of mind with the fact that the federal government does not prohibit the cultivation, supply or sale of cannabis. Although the Controlled Substances Act does not explicitly criminalize these three activities, Canadian law enforcement officials and prosecutors have not taken an approach to prosecution. On the other hand, US federal law enforcement has explicitly ruled out the cultivation and supply of marijuana, classifying it as a criminal offence. This leaves Canadian cannabis companies operating within the legal framework to expand their business without fear of arrest. Although police forces in many US states are taking an aggressive stance against cannabis suppliers, Canadian police officers have limited resources and no desire to make cannabis possession a high national priority.

The challenge for Canadian marijuana companies is not how to remain compliant with Canada's increasingly restrictive cannabis laws, but how to avoid becoming targets for US police officers and prosecutors. Some provinces have introduced comprehensive taxation measures that are designed to discourage Canadian cannabis businesses from operating outside the legal framework. These taxes are generally a combination of administrative and criminal tariffs and are expected to generate new sources of tax revenue for Canadian governments. However, US states are not likely to revisit previous stances on the cannabis industry until the federal government fully implements its own marijuana policies. Until then, Canadian cannabis companies will need to continue to operate according to the agreements entered into by each company. While some companies may find this challenging, it is a necessary means to remain competitive in a highly turbulent business climate.

As Canada gears up to implement its new system of legalized marijuana, there is a pressing need for Canadian เว็บข่าวกัญชา online to be as informed as possible. This ensures the integrity of the new laws and protects Canadian cannabis businesses from being targeted by federal law enforcement officials. Canadian authorities have made no secret of their intention to enforce the newly passed laws and impose stringent punishments on those that sell cannabis products in any way. With information readily available online, Canadian medical cannabis dispensaries are better positioned than ever before to step up their compliance with the new regime. By staying abreast of recent developments in the medical cannabis industry, Canadian patients can ensure that they are following the rules of the road while enjoying their legal right to consume cannabis.
